Fred Lynn got his first taste of major league pitching in a brief stint with Boston in 1974, hitting .419 in just 43 at-bats.
The next year, however, Lynn exploded onto the scene with a season that saw him lead the majors in doubles (47) and Slugging (.566) while also leading the American League in runs (103) and OPS (.967) to go with a .331 average, 21 HR and 105 RBI.
He also captured a Gold Glove for his play in center field.
