CHAMOMILE
THE CHAMOMILE CURE
For its medicinal qualities alone chamomile is worth growing but you can use it in other ways too. Annabelle Padwick explains
Stepping outside on to the towpath each morning, I have three plants that I have to feel and breathe in: blackcurrant mint, lavender and chamomile. Between them they hit all the senses, leaving me calm, awake and uplifted. What are your go-to plants? Do you have a morning garden ritual?
Chamomile is another plant that can bring joy both outside in the garden and inside, infused in a mug of hot water. Rumour has it that we drink more than one million cups of it per day and that probably doesn’t count those of us who harvest our own flowers. It may come as no surprise to know that this member of the Asteraceae plant family has been consumed for centuries and is one of the most ancient medicinal herbs.
