BUILD A BUG BENCH
Something has been bugging Becky Searle for a while now and she finally got it out of her system, much to the benefit of the wildlife in her garden
The gardening year is always marked with highs and lows. The highs include seeing your new seedlings spring to life, and the lows are almost always slug-related (in my garden, at least!). But one of the best highs I get from my garden is in the little projects I do. Ideas that swirl around my head like smoke solidify into real things with the addition of some of my time and effort. At the end of the project, I can stand back and admire what I’ve done. A sense of pride in creating something functional or beautiful fills me with happiness, and I glow with the accomplishment of hard work.
Over the last year, I have done many projects in my garden and allotment. I have had a whole new allotment to set up on a steep slope, no less – so it’s been hard work to get the whole thing up and running. Each time I added another tiered bed or barkchipped path, I returned home with an aching back and a full heart.
