NEW SEED VARIETIES

Know your ABCs!

Excited? You should be! In this two-part series, Tony Flanagan takes an ABC tour of some of the new seed varieties you will find in the 2025 seed catalogues

It’s that time of year again when we take a look at some of the exciting new varieties that are gracing the catalogues, and some of the new varieties in a particular catalogue. There is such a wide range, there should be something for everyone. One that especially stands out in this first feature is ‘Quick Snack F1’ – the cutest of cucumbers – a must-grow one for me!

AUBERGINE

Copyright: Rob Smith’s Allotment

Short on space? How about growing a ‘micro-aubergine’, ‘Baby Black Jack F1’? Producing golf ball-sized fruits, and with a height and spread of only 35cm (14in), this variety can be grown on a windowsill or greenhouse shelf. What’s more, they’re spineless so easy to harvest. Cute!

Eight seeds for £3.49.
