GRIFFIN DROPS A CLANGER
► MARTYN SADLER reflects on a superb Wigan performance that was triggered by a piece of extreme foolishness by Hull FC centre Josh Griffin (pictured).
I’ve always been a great admirer of Josh Griffin, from his early days with Wakefield and Castleford, to his three seasons with Salford from 2014 to 2016.
He played a magnificent role saving the Red Devils’ Super League status in the 2016 Million Pound Game in what must still be one of the ten most memorable Rugby League matches in the Super League era, as Salford recovered from a seemingly hopeless position to beat Hull Kingston Rovers in extra time with Gareth O’Brien’s field-goal.
And Josh’s performances with the Airlie Birds have generally been strong enough for me to consider him an outside bet for an England cap.
