BARROW RAIDERS’ experience was too much for the West Wales Raiders side as they were clinical in their 60-10 win in Llanelli on Saturday.
It was an entertaining game, which the home fans watched in the packed bars at Stebonheath as Welsh Government regulations, until today, allowed people to congregate in pubs but not in sports grounds. Three yellow cards, two of them twin brothers, and 13 tries gave the big screen watchers a lot of entertainment.
Barrow looked to make more errors through the game and gave away more penalties than West Wales, but their attack and defence were better than their hosts, which is why they won.
It also didn’t help that three Welshmen pulled out injured in the hours before the game, forcing hardworking team manager Gareth Laugharne to print out team sheets four times before kick-off! Callum Mulkeen was one of them, only to be used in emergencies, so remained unused.
