CROSFIELDS beat CLOCK FACE MINERS in the battle of the early-season toptwo to leapfrog the St Helens outfit to the top of the table.
The Soap had to repel two Clock rallies, from 16-0 down midway through the first half and from 22-14 adrift early in the second period.
The Miners brushed aside both those deficits to level matters at 22 on the hour through tries by Karle Hunt, Jimmy Jones and Ryan O’Donnelly, with Jack Highcock’s fifth goal –a penalty – restoring parity.
