Hull KR’s first try was a thing of beauty; Mikey Lewis chipped over the Wakefield defence with Jack Walker winning the race to touch down (pictured).
DURING the late Roman Republic, the triumvirate of Julius Caesar, Pompey the Great and Marcus Crassus took charge of affairs and dominated society.
On Friday night it was the triumvirate of Mikey Lewis, Brad Schneider and Jack Walker that did just that at Belle Vue, ripping already relegated Wakefield to shreds in a remarkable second-half that saw Rovers register seven tries, some of them quite sublime.
It was a funny atmosphere at Belle Vue; Wakefield fans knew they were relegated and still got behind their team, but it felt different. With nothing but pride effectively left to play for, there was a sense they would go down against top-four hunting Hull KR, but for an hour they more than held their own.
