WOLVES SECURE THEIR PLAY-OFF OBJECTIVE
WARRINGTON WOLVES have booked their spot in the Super League semi-finals with a hard-fought victory against Huddersfield Giants.
By doing so they clinched sixth spot on the ladder over Salford Red Devils, and will face St Helens on Saturday at the Totally Wicked Stadium, thanks to tries from Matt Dufty and James Harrison, while Stefan Ratchford kicked a perfect six from six with the boot.
Huddersfield finished their season on a disappointing note in what was the final club appearance of veteran Jermaine McGillvary before he departs, and the final games for retiring Australian pair Nathan Peats and Chris McQueen.
The Wolves built a 12-4 lead at halftime, with Dufty and Harrison crossing, before McQueen hit back for the Giants.
Ratchford struck in the second half with three penalty goals, before Will Pryce’s brilliant individual try, to claim the tight win and secure a semi-final berth.
Warrington interim coach Gary Chambers admitted he is looking forward to facing St Helens again this Saturday afternoon.
