Leisure Painter  |  Sep-15
Welcome to the September issue of Leisure Painter. This month we feature a back to basics article focusing on the techniques and colours used to paint seascapes in watercolour. Then continue to practise your wet-in-wet, wet-on-dry and dry-brush techniques to paint a portrait of a dog, and read further watercolour advice on how to choose your palette. Learn how to paint figures using acrylic ink backgrounds with over layers of heavy body acrylics, and there's more acrylic colour mixing advice, this month looking at violet with a step by step demonstration of flowers. For the pastellists among you, we have buildings and landscapes, and for the oil painters a study of a garden flower and an exotic beach scene. Brush up your drawing skills with water-soluble graphite and Inktense, detailed pen & ink studies and how to draw caricatures. Finally, we have great pleasure in presenting the winning paintings from this year's open competition. We hope you enjoy the issue.
