Body and sole in North Devon

3 Sea-facing beach huts at Beach Cove Coastal Retreat
The Victorians had it right: a weekend jaunt to the seaside is benefcial for both body and soul. The newly refurbished Beach Cove Coastal Retreat near Ilfracombe is a good place to put the theory to the test. There are 26 candy-coloured beach huts on offer, hovering above the high tide of Hele Bay. Each unit is decked out with vintage-style furnishings, and there are balconies for alfresco dining. The North Devon coastline provides plenty of opportunities for restorative walks, with a stretch of the South West Coastal Path nearby. Ilfracombe itself has galleries and seafood restaurants to distract, and its Iron Age fort, Hillsborough, offers satisfying views of the bobbing boats in the harbour. A fne reward for any effort expended is tea and scones at Hele Corn Mill & Tearoom. If you don’t feel like using any energy, simply wile away an afternoon in your hut, watching the ebbing waves and dog walkers on the shore below from the comfort of the sofa or your private hot tub.
