One of the judges, Picture Editor Claire Richardson said: ‘I love the way that the setting sun illuminates the dramatic peaks. Ollie’s shot has it all – composition, detail, colour and atmospheric light.’

Tip Research your location, wait for good weather and return for the golden hour, just before dawn or sunset. A small aperture is great for landscapes, lending sharpness throughout the view, but to compensate for low light the shutter speed will be slow, so a tripod is essential.
