James Murphy clearly is a man who places a lot of importance on the power and symbolism of colours. Having recorded their 2005 debut at Long View Farm Studios in Massachusetts, LCD Soundsystem returned for the Sound Of Silver sessions in 2006.
Murphy later explained to a journalist that he physically covered the whole studio in tinfoil and silver fabric to set the overall tone for the album. “The first record, I went to a farm and I walked away from it and I listened to the record and I thought it sounded too woody,” he rationalised.
