STITCHER'S STORY
She’s ELECTRIC
After a lifetime battling with static, sewing turns out to be the only way to properly beat the cling

Since I can remember, skirts and dresses were off the menu whenever temperatures dropped low enough to warrant tights. It wasn’t a seasonal distaste for getting my legs out; rather, every time I stepped out the door in a skirt over a pair of tights, the skirt would start to inch its way up my thighs until it had gathered into an unsightly bundle around the crotch. Not the best look.
Not wearing skirts with tights became, for me, a sartorial norm, to the point where I would rarely buy skirts or dresses – they just became something I didn’t wear.
I’ve always sewn some of my own clothes, but in my thirties I got back into sewing in a big way: I wanted to make everything and the appeal of skirts and dresses skyrocketed.
