How did your career pivot from photography to sewing?
I worked as a commercial photographer and found my passion in fashion photography. My interest in fashion grew into an important part of my storytelling, and I eventually started making clothes for my models – especially when I wanted something timeless and captivating, a garment that I knew would photograph well. Making voluminous dresses and sleeves quickly became my thing. I asked my models to dance around in the meadows in my floaty, dreamy dresses, and eventually, my followers started asking where they could buy them.

How did you start your sewing business?
I started my business in 2018, making one slow fashion collection a year. I used exclusive fabrics and worked with organic cotton, linen and Tencel. When the orders became more frequent and I couldn’t fulfil them myself, I began working with a small team of seamstresses in Estonia. Everything went through my atelier at home, from designing to sample making, sourcing fabrics, photographing lookbooks and managing social media. When the Covid pandemic hit, I was immediately affected, just as many other small businesses and I needed to pivot. The idea of teaching others how to sew their own exclusive designer clothes came to mind - designs inspired by the fashion runways but with the same slow-sewing mindset as my clothing label. I started Silversaga Patterns in 2023, and it’s crazy to think that it has been only two years! The growth of my company has been amazing, and it’s very much thanks to the support from the sewing community.
