SABATON
With The Great Tour cancelled, Sabaton are planning a new mission: the biggest-ever tour by a Swedish band around Sweden. Oh, and they’re writing new music…
If there’s one band that can keep rolling through the bullshit, it’s Sabaton. Like, c’mon - they even have their own tanks. Caught in the middle of the Russian leg of The Great Tour when the pandemic hit, Sabaton sent their crew home and sat back to reconsider their plan of attack.
“We were touring from East to West Russia in March. And during this thing, the whole world started to shut down,” explains bassist and chief strategist Pär Sundström. “We were still playing and there were still no restrictions in Russia in place, and at some point we found ourselves one of the only bands touring left in the entire world. But at some point it became a little bit overwhelming for us, and we felt that OK, we just need to get home to be safe. So we had to abort the tour.”
