Q I’d like to try adding a little extra weight to some of my kit-built open wagons that I need to run as empties. I would normally add small offcuts of steel, but I’m finding it hard to find room under the chassis to ensure they won’t be visible. Any tips?

George says: Lead shot or similar materials can be fixed into any small recesses in the underframe, secured with a penetrating adhesive such as thin cyanoacrylate (‘Superglue’), but this can be difficult to remove in future without damaging the model.
