STEAM-ERA HEADCODE DISCS
ANY GAUGE
While many railway operators employed a display of oil lamps atop the front of a steam locomotive to denote a train’s purpose, others adopted circular discs to make identification more explicit. The Southern Railway is probably the best-known proponent of discs, but the LNER also adopted them in some areas. Modelu is offering packs of 3D-printed discs to suit both railway companies, complete with handles (or hand holes) and apertures for lamp lenses to shine through. Five discs are provided in each pack and a quick lick of paint is all that’s required before use. Available in any scale.
