MOSCOW-BASED RED Wings Airlines has received a Tupolev Tu-214 as it looks to expand its fleet. The aircraft, RA-64518 (c/n 44709018), has been leased from Ilyushin Finance Company (IFC) and was handed over to the airline at Kazan airport on December 23. Red Wings deputy general director of fleet management Ekaterina Rukhlova and IFC CEO Mikhail Podkhvatilin were both in attendance.
The aircraft was originally delivered to Transaero in 2009 before being leased to Red Wings in August 2016. It has recently undergone restoration work after being in long-term storage, including overhauling its two Aviadvigatel PS-90A engines and a complete interior renovation. Red Wings said the aircraft is configured with 194 seats in a single-class cabin.
