Character has offered numerous variants of the Fifth Doctor, sometimes with only very slight changes – with muddy trainers from The Awakening (1984, left) in the 2017 Thirteen Doctors box set, for example. A post-regenerative version in the Fourth Doctor’s burgundy outfit and brown buccaneer boots was a 2010 Forbidden Planet exclusive (below left and centre), with a waistcoated and black-booted version (below right) featuring in a 2012 set based on his first story, Castrovalva (1982) – together with the Master’s ‘Ionic column’ TARDIS and a shrunken victim of the renegade.
Oddly, the first Character version, from 2008, came without the decorative celery usually attached to his lapel (far left). His 1984 season outfit, with different stripes on his jumper and trousers, featured in a Resurrection of the Daleks-themed set exclusive to Forbidden Planet in 2011 (left).
