Dads that keep active with their kids are setting them up well for later life, according to a study led by Dr Paul Ramchandani, LEGO Professor of Play in Education, Development and Learning. Previous studies have already shown that having an engaged and ‘emotionally invested’ dad is linked with better wellbeing, cognitive development and social competence. According to the report, the kind of play that fathers typically engage in is often physical (chasing, piggyback rides, etc.) and the evidence shows this sort of activity ‘positively contribute to children’s social, emotional and cognitive outcomes.’
