Locomotive Directory – The Encyclopedia of UK Modern Traction Locomotives is by far the most comprehensive and accurate product to date on this complex subject and is the result of many years’ extensive research by editor Colin J Marsden.
The format is based on the BR 1957 number series as a start line, to provide some uniformity of order. A full and very important cross-number reference table from TOPS numbers to the 1957 series is provided, with recent additions since the inception of the five digit TOPS system found in class order. The title is set out in the order of diesel locos, electric locos and departmental traction towards the back.
