Sir, On behalf of Blythswood Care, a huge thank you to all who contributed to the very successful 2017 Shoe Box Appeal. We were delighted to be able to send up to our depot at Deephaven 763 shoe boxes for onward distribution to Romania.
Your gifts contained in the shoe boxes are a vital contribution to this project delivering boxes to some of the poorest people in Europe and Asia. Last winter the appeal delivered its two-millionth box to a boy with Down’s syndrome in a remote village in Romania.
In reality, every box is significant, bringing practical aid and the touch of human kindness to children and adults facing all sorts of challenges in their day to day lives – disability, illness, unemployment, homelessness, addiction, loneliness, debt and war.
