ENVIRONMENTAL protection officials have confirmed there are no pollution fears surrounding a lochan at one of Skye’s most famous beauty spots.
Last month, many of the hundreds who visit the Fairy Glen above Uig were left puzzled by the bright orange streaks in the waters of the lochan at the foot of the glen.
Theories on what had caused the discolouration included the possible presence of iron ore or algal bloom. The mysterious streaks vanished when wind blew but were clearly visible when the surface of the loch was still.
