A SCHOOL on Mull and an educational support worker from Lochgilphead have beaten off stiff competition from across Scotland to be selected as finalists at this year’s Scottish Education Awards.
Lochdonhead Primary School on Mull has been selected as a finalist for the Learning for Sustainability Award. Pupils are taught about the importance of sustainability and regularly participate in outdoor learning to enhance their understanding of the environment. As a result, pupils have developed an awareness of global environmental issues and the important role they can play in sustaining the environment.
And Raymond Flanagan, community learning and development worker at Lochgilphead Joint Campus, has been named as a finalist for the Educational Supporter of the Year Award. Working with support staff, Mr Flanagan has been praised for going above and beyond the call of duty to ensure young people are able to achieve their full potential.
