Swim TheIsland is a series of thrilling openwater swims in Italy: Sirmione, Isola D’Elba and Bergeggi. It all began in the Ligurian village of Bergeggi out to a small island of the same name 10 years ago. The coastline, with its grottos and caves, is a marine protected area and forms a dramatic backdrop for the event, which attracts thousands of swimmers each year. There are races and longer swims for experienced swimmers throughout the weekends.
In 2020 the fifth edition will take place in Sirmione: it’s really incredible, as not only do you complete a circumnavigation of this enchanting town, but you also swim by the ruins of a 2000-year-old Roman villa and a medieval castle. And this year will be the first on Isola D’Elba, Portoferraio.
