In both the pool and open water, swimming can cause damage to a variety of hair styles, with chlorine in indoor settings, and elements like sun and salt in the open water playing a major role in causing dryness and damage to locks. However, with kinky, curly and coily hair naturally being much harder to retain moisture and more prone to breakage, frequenting the water can play havoc to a black swimmer’s hair, causing significant damage on a scale not normally experienced with other hair textures.
