Honor has produced some cracking budget tablets in the past few years, with the Honor Pad 9 and Pad X9 delivering decent screens and specs at bargain prices. With the MagicPad2, however, it’s targeting the mid-range big leagues. With an OLED screen and a flagship-level processor, it’s the kind of slate that leaves you wondering: why pay more?
It’s a slim 274.5 x 180.5mm unit, under 6mm thick and weighing 555g. It takes its cues from the iPad Air, though it’s thicker and heavier at 555g, and the metal shell – available in black or white – doesn’t feel quite as premium. Still, there’s nothing wrong with the construction, and the worst that you can say about the physical design is that it’s a bit generic, the USB-C port only goes as far as 480Mbits/sec USB 2 speeds, and there’s no microSD card slot.
