Canon EOS R body, Battery grip
Ever wondered why Canon’s flagship cameras like the EOS R1 and EOS-1D X Mk III are so big? They have large battery grips built in which allow them to pack more power to shoot for longer, and are easier to shoot in the portrait orientation too.
But just because you don’t have a cool £6999 to spend on an EOS R1 doesn’t mean you have to miss out on the fun! Battery grips are available for many of Canon’s EOS cameras, for both mirrorless and older DSLR models. While Canon’s proprietary grips will work best, they are expensive. I personally use a Neewer battery grip on my EOS R5 Mark I; it’s equivalent to Canon’s £349 BG-R10 and while it doesn’t perhaps feel as nice as the genuine Canon in the hand, it is a third of the price at just £110.
