Nestlé announce vegan KitKat
Following rumours on social media, chocolate giant Nestle (nestle.co.uk) has confirmed its plans to release KitKat V, a brand new vegan chocolate bar. The company says that it will feature crisp wafer fingers covered with smooth chocolate blended with plant-based ingredients.
Louise Barrett, Head of the Nestle Confectionery Product Technology Centre in York, said: “Taste was a priority when developing the plant-based chocolate for our new vegan KitKat. We used our expertise in ingredients, together with a test and learn approach, to create a delicious vegan choice for KitKat fans.” The company is yet to confirm exactly when the new bar will be launched, except to say that it will hit stores later this year.
Vegan Life Magazine launches podcast
The award-winning magazine Vegan Life (veganlifemag.com) has launched a brand new podcast, billed as perfect for anyone who enjoys playing with their food. Hosted by comedian, Vegan Life columnist and all-round foodie, Jake Yapp, each episode will feature the very best vegan chefs, bakers and food gurus out there. The first episode, called Go Suck on a Kale Leaf, focused on cake, with bakers Gretchen Price, Kate Emmett and Katie White joining Jake to share top tips and trade secrets.
With subsequent episodes discussing everything from fine dining to frugal cooking, the podcast is light-hearted and engaging, and it’s not just for vegans! It’s for anyone who is experimenting with plant-based living, or looking for a little inspiration in the kitchen. It’s already taking the podcast charts by storm; listen on Spotify, Apple, Amazon and Google Podcasts.
