Ramadan begins
Muslims the world over will begin a month of fasting, as Ramadan begins on 12th April. The ninth month of the Islamic calendar, the observance begins when the new moon appears, and ends as it wanes. During this month, Muslims will fast between dawn and sunset, allowing them to devote themselves to their faith. The two meals that are taken during Ramadan are known as the suhoor and the iftar, eaten just before dawn and just after sunset, respectively.
These meals traditionally use meat and animal products, but a quick search for ‘vegan suhoor recipes’ and ‘vegan iftar recipes’ shows that there are plenty of options for plantbased meals during Ramadan. Take a look at onearabvegan.com for more inspiration.
