Eat Smart
The best foods for a healthy, happy body
TEETH
Spinach: Leafy greens, such as spinach, are high in fibre and so can help promote good digestion and healthy cholesterol levels. Also, as they require plenty of chewing – which generates saliva – they can work as a kind of ‘car wash for your teeth’.
Strawberries: Though sweet (which we often connote as being bad for the teeth), strawberries contain malic acid, which is a natural enamel whitener. Plus, they’re delicious!
EYES
Red bell peppers: Rich in vitamins A and C, red bell peppers can help lower your risk of visual impairment. The pepper’s rich vitamin status helps maintain healthy blood vessels in your eyes and can protect the retina from oxidative damage. It’s best to eat them raw though, as cooking can sometimes detract from their nutrient levels, due to the heat breaking down the vitamin C.
