06 OBJECT SELECTION IN LIGHTROOM AND CAMERA RAW
BEFORE
AFTER
The Masks Panel now features an Objects option. Lightroom and Camera Raw automatically detect the edges of the object for you and generate a precise mask for the area. Simply open the Object tab in the Masks Panel and choose either Scribble Selection (which lets you select objects by scribbling roughly over them) or Marquee Selection (which allows you to drag a rough selection box over an object). You can use this to isolate any kind of object in a few seconds. Of course, like all automated selection tools, it may not work perfectly every time but even if it doesn’t complete the job, it is still likely to get you most of the way there, and you can always go on to refine the mask using other tools like the Adjustment Brush (press Shift+K to start adding areas, or Alt+K to subtract).
