ANGLE GRINDER
MICHAEL ODELL, interviewer for the
Times
, is developing an interesting sideline: penning
mea culpas
for his failure to spot that his subjects are wrong-uns.
Last December he was revisiting his interview two years earlier with Gregg Wallace and how he thought the presenter’s sexual jokes were “hilarious at the time”. Then in February, when cookery presenter Gino D’Acampo was removed from the ITV schedules after multiple allegations of bullying and sexually inappropriate language, Odell was back to tell readers: “I would never have imagined any of this when I met D’Acampo in London three years ago.”
