AND LAST BUT NOT LEAST
Grant Moon has a rummage down the back of the Prog sofa for the ones that nearly got away…
And this month’s award for Most Cumbersome Album Title goes to… Minneapolis proggers The Light In The Ocean for ThePseudo-Scientific Study of Oceanic Neo-Cryptid Zoology. Prog can forgive them though, since their excellent second LP is packed with hefty, intelligent, modern music. There are shades of Sanguine Hum in the elegant arpeggios, of Riverside in the moody atmospheres, and extra points for the nutso 10-minute prog vaudeville HamiltonBig Boys and cheekily effective Biehn’s Theme, which will be familiar if you know the Terminator movies. These guys are good - they’ll be back.
