JULIAN LITTMAN
Q&A
The singer, songwriter, actor and 12-year member of Steeleye Span has enough strings to his bow to start an archery team. The latest, as he tells Prog, is an entertaining album inspired by a famous Victorian poem, which has been released to complement a tarot deck and guide book.
Words: Paul Sexton
Julian Littman climbed aboard the good ship Steeleye in 2010, and has been integral to their studio and stage workings ever since In between, he performs with his dear friend, estimable artist-composer Charlie Dore, with whom he goes back to drama school days. Venerable readers may recall them in the children’s TV series Rainbow in the 70s. His other credits include Evita on the big screen, Pump Boys And Dinettes and We Will Rock You on stage, The Sweeney and Holby City on the box, and tours with everyone from Pete Townshend to Gerry Rafferty, as well as two solo albums in the past decade. He now adds the unique Goblin Market Music. Featuring all of his fellow bandmates, it’s another extension of his creative Span.
