Despite regular rain, the odd bit of fog and strong winds, summer is apparently here. And welcome it is too. Summer brings with it a wonderful array of festivals and the opportunity to play your acoustic outdoors and generally feel better about life. If you’ve a hankering to attend one of the many festivals staged this summer, check out the second part of our festival round-up, and, if you missed it, catch the first part in last month’s issue. Enjoying a concentrated, intense day of live music can be a real inspiration in terms of your own playing and songwriting. Get in touch too and let us know what your highlights of the festival season were.
Things here at Acoustic Towers are also heating up, particularly with regard to the forthcoming London Acoustic Show (10 -11 September, London Olympia). Along with the fab gear, masterclasses and main stage performances, we’ve got something pretty special lined up – and a first for the show. Ever sat in the audience at a gig and wondered what it’d be like to accompany the artist on-stage? Here’s your chance. Many of you will know Acoustic columnist Chris Woods, a fantastic player and composer. Chris will be performing on the Saturday of the show and to conclude his performance, he is opening up the opportunity for everyone in the audience to play along. A specific piece of music has been chosen and it has four distinct parts ranging from beginner to expert. Tabs of the four different parts will be published online and in the next issue of Acoustic, plus some instructional videos to guide you through your chosen part. Rumour has it that other main stage and masterclass artists will join in too, making for a fantastic collaborative effort. So, no excuse!
Enjoy the issue!
