Acoustic Magazine August 2016 Edição anterior

English
8 Comentários   •  English   •   Music (Practical & Playing)
Our play-along session at the London Acoustic Show is off and running. Chris Woods reports that many of you have already registered your interest. The Guitar Revolution train is on its way, so jump onboard. Remember: no costs, no fees – just a little investment in practice time and a visit to the show on 10 September are all that’s needed! And while we’re talking about the show, be sure to read our special features with Preston Reed and Clive Carroll – two of the many artists performing at Olympia London in September.
The response to this project shows what a special place the world of acoustic is. Looking back over the years, much has changed in the world of acoustic music and guitars – and almost without exception, the changes have been for the better. Thanks to the likes of Ed Sheeran, Jake Bugg, Ben Howard and Mumford & Sons, playing acoustic guitar is ‘cool’ again. Despite the pressures of the online world, sales of acoustic guitars right across the price ranges continue to be strong – and long may that continue.
My time, however, as editor of Acoustic is to come to an end, and this issue will be my last. As some of you know, Acoustic magazine was first published in 2004 and it was my privilege to be the magazine’s editor for the first four years of its life. This time last year I was asked to return to the editor’s chair.
I’ve enjoyed immensely both tenures. I’ve met inspiring artists, luthiers and industry professionals, and reviewed some amazing guitars, but a new chapter awaits working with Martin Guitars – yes, from one dream job to another. A big thank you to those I have worked with over the years. Most of all I’d like to thank you, our valued readers.
Taking over will be Nick Robbins, who has worked on Acoustic for a number of years. You’re in safe hands with Nick – he’s one of the good guys – and I know you’ll give him the same support that I’ve enjoyed. There are exciting times ahead!
