Due to the 2022 FIFA World Cup, MATAR, the Qatar Company for Airport Operation and Management, has introduced dedicated passenger overflow areas at Doha/Hamad and Doha/International for those departing. The former can handle 24,000 passengers per day and the latter has a capacity of up to 12,000 customers each day. These are scheduled to remain in operation until December 31, 2022, and, while open, will only be available for travellers – regardless of their airline – arriving at both airports more than four hours and up to eight hours prior to their scheduled departure time. For more information relating to World Cup preparation, see pages 86-87 of the December 2022 Airliner World.
