BARCELONA-BASED low-cost, longhaul carrier LEVEL is to obtain its own Air Operator’s Certificate (AOC) under plans by owner – International Consolidated Airlines Group (IAG) – to expand its operations.
Currently, LEVEL is a brand only, with flights operated by Spanish flag carrier Iberia. The new AOC would allow it to become a standalone airline. IAG hopes that this will help the group achieve its aim of generating over €1.5bn in operating profit from its Spanish businesses. Indeed, LEVEL is already generating double-digit growth, according to Iberia CEO Fernando Candela.
