To suggest a classic low-country river house, the contractor played up the exterior with materials special to the homeowners so it wouldn’t look like a new build. They used reclaimed brick from their family land to build an expansive stairway and old wood for their porch f ooring. “We chose a classic black metal roof because we wanted something simple and modern,” says Ashley.

It’s a testament to the function and aesthetic of farmhouse style that we still attempt that classic look today—even on new builds. When lead designer and project manager Ashley Cason of Amanda Webster Design was approached to help design a new home in northern Florida, she was pleased to hear that they wanted a classic low-country feel. “They wanted it to be casual and family-oriented with a timeless look,” she says. With a clear vision to new property old charm, the team got to work.
The homeowners sourced wood and brick from their family land to use in their home. This includes the brick wall in the kitchen, the f replace in the living room and the f replace mantel and cof ee table. Pops of navy blue pay tribute to their location near the river and break up the neutral tones in the space.
