Historic military specialist Michael D Long offers this Victorian Royal Artillery officer’s sabretache and pouch, below, for £785 at the London Antique Arms Fair. It has gold train lace including a blue cloth face bearing the embroidered royal arms. The pouch has a purse-style black Moroccan container complete with gilt metal side mounts and carrying rings.
The dealership is among around 30 exhibitors at the event which takes place on April 13 at the Ibis Hotel in Earls Court. It has run since 1967, when it was the first antique arms fair in the UK, and is now owned by dealer John Wilson, who acquired it in the summer of 2018.
