JENNIFER Gibb’s problem with dampness in her home is not an isolated incident.
Last spring, the Argyllshire Advertiser reported the story of an 80-year-old partially-sighted ACHA tenant who was forced to sleep on her living room sofa because her bedroom was too damp to use. Black mould on her bedroom walls led to the housing association removing the plaster down to the underlying brickwork to allow it to dry out.
The lady’s family blamed damp rising from the ground soaking through the fabric of the house but this was dismissed by ACHA. Work on her home by the association improved the situation but the dampness problem has recently reappeared in her bedroom.
