All of the domestic bowling competitions were completed by the end of August with congratulations going to the winners, commiserations to the beaten finalists and better luck next time to all the others knocked out in earlier rounds.
The last Saturday of August saw the delayed George Watson Memorial Trophy being played for, and a keenly fought set of random pairs was played out on a beautifully prepared set of rinks. This year’s winners by just one shot were John McConnachie and Andy McCrindle.
The final competition of the Brodick season, the President’s Bowl, was played on the first Saturday of September. This was a progressive pairs game with each participant playing for themselves, and this year’s winner by three clear points was Iain Hendry.
