SHOT PUT
MICHELLE CARTER calls herself the ‘Shot Diva’ and the American put herself well and truly in the spotlight on the first evening of athletics competition with a dramatic last-gasp win.
Carter seems to have the knack of keeping her cool when the pressure is on. The 30-yearold won the world indoor title in March with her final attempt and she did the same in Rio, unleashing the throw of her life in the last round to deny New Zealand shot put star Valerie Adams a third Olympic title.
