GRANTS totalling £1.6 million have been awarded by the London Marathon Charitable Trust in the latest round of funding to several projects in and around London and Surrey.
The trust, founded in 1981, offers grants for projects which encourage and support people to take part in physical activity, and has now awarded more than £64.5 million in its history.
The largest individual grants this time round are a £350,000 payment to support the YMCA East Surrey towards the creation of a new sports facility, and a £200,000 grant to Holborn Community Association for the remodelling of Bedford House in Camden to improve the sports centre’s accessibility.
