Once billed as the town of tomorrow, Thamesmead, in south east London, is best known for providing the dystopian backdrop for Stanley Kubrick’s A Clockwork Orange - perhaps not the most, ahem, a-peeling endorsement for prospective buyers. However, the town is currently bearing the fruits of a £1bn-plus investment (the biggest regeneration project in the capital), which includes The Reach (above), a flagship collection of stylish one, two and three-bedroom homes. Space certainly won’t be an issue for residents - there are 7km of canals, six lakes and three nature reserves in the surrounding area. Stanley’s film really didn’t do all that greenery justice! Prices: from £275,000.
