January - a new beginning and a fresh start! People plan to do, be, feel, and live better. As parents, we want to accomplish those goals but also see our children achieve them. Often, the best way to do that is by changing our health habits and choices. For parents with a child on the spectrum, not reaching for one more chocolate chip cookie during stressful times or making sure their children are getting the proper amount of sleep can be challenging and exhausting. It’s so much easier to choose the dessert over the decathlon. This month's theme is “Healthy Habits: Live Well and Flourish.” Being healthy starts with a choice, but sticking with those choices can be difficult. Stress, not getting enough sleep, choosing less nutritious foods, and not getting up and moving can all impact how we and our children feel. Making better choices can have an even bigger and better impact. As we decide for 2025 how we want to do, be, feel, and live better, we must change a few habits. Maybe we can replace one chocolate chip cookie with a carrot. If a marathon is a stretch, get outside for a long walk or some snowball fun. Hopefully, that will help you and your families connect over your common choices to “Live Well and Flourish.” Happy reading!
