The last time this muddied-up trials buggy featured here (30 October 2024), my dad and I had just a handful of events left to do before the end of the season.
Once we had a bit of downtime, we decided to deal with the rideheight issues with which we had been struggling since we swapped our Volkswagen Type 4 engine for a Subaru boxer. We seemed to be clouting the underside of the car more often on hills, and we knew it needed resolving sharpish when, at the very top of a steep climb, we grounded out on a huge mound of earth, which shoved the sump guard up into the exhaust headers. Bugger! (That’s not quite the word I used when it happened.)
