Aviation Specials Magazine Wellington Edição anterior

English
44 Comentários   •  English   •   Aviation & Transport (Aviation)
Until the advent of the ‘heavies’ - the Stirling, Halifax and Lancaster - the Wellington bore the brunt of Bomber Command’s onslaught on occupied Europe. Built using the revolutionary geodetic construction developed by Barnes Wallis, the Wellington developed a reputation for being able to take a lot of punishment and still bring crews home.

Wellingtons served widely, becoming workhorses for the Operational Training Units, sub-hunters for Coastal Command, transports and test-beds and were even used as low-flying minesweepers! Postwar the Wellington served on overseas and as a crew-trainer for the RAF, finally retiring in the mid-1950s.

Enthusiasts the world over have a great respect for the Wellington ‑ this 100-page special magazine from the team behind FlyPast magazine provides a much sought-after tribute to an incredible warplane.

Features include:

Barnes Wallis and the birth of the Wellington

Detailed directories of RAF and Commonwealth front-line squadrons and support units from the UK to the Far East

Breakdown of each and every variant and the many incredible roles the Wellington carried out

Bomber Command’s stalwart, from early disasters to the ‘Thousand Bomber’ raids

Colour schemes, markings and squadron heraldry

And much more!
